Tracey Bennett (aka The Reckless Foodie!)

Tracey Bennett is Jason’s business partner and wife of 25 years, mother of their four children, grandmother to that little cute thing and a well-respected plant-based wholefood chef. She personally created over 300 recipes for the online programmes that she and Jason ran over the last decade. Over many years, she has perfected the art of feeding a hungry family with solely plant-based meals, while keeping them strong healthy and asking for more of her delicious, fresh creations!

Tracey is passionate about teaching people how to create simple, tasty plant-based food that can be prepared easily – and is affordable. For Tracey, cooking is both therapy and art; she gets into her flow when in the kitchen and infuses all her food with loads of aroha. She adores connecting with others and talking plant-based food! These days you will often find her either teaching a cooking workshop, catering for an event, workshop or retreat, or co-leading a fasting retreat with Jason. And here’s what I created with my harvest yesterday! It was great timing for me as I had been doing a fast for the three days previous and apart from a grapefruit for break-fast, this was my first meal to ease back into eating. Perfect light, super healthy food to break a fast with, yet after not having food for three days, it felt like an epic dance party in my mouth! Just a yummy greens heavy salad with a few of my fave veggies and fresh herbs additions added for colour and taste. With a squeeze of lemon and a splash of tamari, no need to bring oil in so soon after a fast... 🙏🏼

Today’s harvest! Want to thank my gorgeous Mum for all her work and guidance in my garden - it is epic what it is producing and what is coming! How is your harvest and planting coming along?
Even if you just start small and plant some perpetual spinach and fave lettuces in a planter box, it is SO rewarding to go out and pluck fresh your own fresh salad greens! Then you can add some silverbeet, maybe kale a and a few fave herbs like parsley and basil and you will be blown away as they are all super easy to grow. I hope this inspires someone who would love a veggie garden but hasn’t quite got there. is your harvest? 🥬🍅🥒🥦🥕

We just received this beautiful testimonial from one of our Retreatees who attended our retreat in Auckland last month. It is an honour and a joy to be able to make this kind of difference 🙏🏼❤️
‘Fasting helped me to reset my abnormal high heart rhythm (over 200 beats per minute) to a normal rate. In 2018, I was diagnosed with Supraventricular tachycardia - nodal re-entrant, which is a type of arrhythmia. My only options were heart medication for life or ablation, a procedure where they would burn that part of the heart that causes the problem. I did not want to choose any of these options. After taking part in the September fasting retreat, my heart health improved so much that I decided to go to another one in October. After these two fasting retreats, my arrhythmia was gone. I was no longer scared that my next SVT episode would send me to the emergency room because I had no more rhythm irregularities.

I keep following Jason's recommendations, especially regarding diet changes, and I try to fast one day a week. Sometimes we need a pioneer who has already walked the path to exceptional health to inspire us to make lifestyle changes. Thank you, Jason, for showing us that excellent health is achievable and making it possible for us to walk in your footsteps’

Sweet treats - gotta love them. So important to have one or two on hand for those moments when you just gotta have something sweet. I love to make high quality sweet treats from the finest ingredients and always have one or two on hand in my freezer to grab in those moments - cut into bite size chunks ... so that you can go back for seconds if you feel the urge! This is the gorgeous one off glamping tent at the very special venue that is @applebyhouse&rabbitislandhuts. The outside expansive areas are really lovely, peaceful and serene with cute little huts and beautiful areas to gather and relax. And then there is the amazing house with rooms with balconies.
